The HSE Global Compliance Director is a senior, independent oversight role responsible for establishing, governing, and continuously strengthening Hovione’s global Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) compliance systems.  As the HSE Global Compliance Director you will ensure that all sites operate in full adherence to applicable regulations, internal standards, and major accident hazard prevention requirements—regardless of operational constraints or local decision‑making considerations.

As a key member of the Global HSE Leadership Team, the HSE Global Compliance Director will provide objective visibility to senior leadership on compliance performance, systemic risks, and emerging regulatory trends, serving as an impartial guardian of Hovione’s licence to operate.

  • Develop and implement a global HSE compliance framework aligned with regulatory requirements, corporate standards, and business objectives.

  • Anticipate emerging regulatory and industry trends, proactively adapting policies, standards, and procedures to maintain best-in-class compliance.

  • Define and govern global HSE compliance standards, ensuring consistent interpretation and application across all regions and sites.

  • Establish independent compliance governance and oversight, providing objective insight into risks, gaps, and systemic vulnerabilities.

  • Lead global compliance audits, inspections, and risk assessments, overseeing effective corrective and preventive action (CAPA) processes.

  • Build and maintain a risk-based enterprise audit programme aligned to regulatory, operational, and strategic priorities.

  • Develop compliance KPIs, dashboards, and executive reporting to support informed decision-making and investment prioritisation.

  • Act as a key regulatory interface, supporting sites during inspections and representing the company with authorities, customers, and industry bodies.

  • Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, R&D, Legal, HR, and Engineering to embed clear accountability and compliance ownership.

  • Drive compliance culture, capability building, and systems transformation, including digitalisation and modern compliance monitoring tools.

We are looking to recruit a Candidate:

  • 15+ years of HSE experience, including senior compliance, assurance, or governance leadership roles within high-hazard, highly regulated industries such as pharmaceuticals or chemicals.

  • Proven track record leading global or multi-site HSE compliance, audit, or regulatory assurance programmes.

  • Deep expertise in international HSE regulatory frameworks and major accident hazard prevention requirements (e.g., Seveso/COMAH or equivalents).

  • Strong capability in interpreting emerging regulations and evolving enterprise compliance frameworks, policies, and governance models proactively.

  • Extensive experience managing regulatory inspections, external audits, and high-stakes compliance interactions, with a focus on systemic risk reduction and CAPA effectiveness.

  • Independent, credible, and influential leader with exceptional analytical and communication skills, able to challenge senior stakeholders, drive organisational learning, and lead change with integrity.
